Anderson storms to 2nd round

Johannesburg - South African No 1 Kevin Anderson progressed to the second round of the US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament in New York late on Monday.

Anderson secured a trouble-free 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 victory over Go Soeda of Japan in their first-round men's singles clash.

SA women's No 1 Chanelle Scheepers was set to face Anne Keothavong of Great Britain in the first round of the women's singles competition later on Tuesday.
