Anderson drops in rankings

Johannesburg - South Africa's top ranked men's tennis player Kevin Anderson has dropped one place in the latest ATP singles rankings released on Monday, ending the year at 37.

Anderson, who enjoyed a career high ranking of 28 in March following a second career title at Delray Beach, in Florida, has since failed to improve his ranking.

Izak van der Merwe is 213th, Rik De Voest has fallen over 70 places since October to be ranked 269th, while Fritz Wolmarans is 340th.

Chanelle Scheepers, South Africa's top ranked woman, finished the year ranked 60 in the WTA singles rankings.

Scheepers began the year at number 38, and has now fallen 22 spots.

Scheepers reached a career-high ranking of 37 with her maiden victory on tour at the Guangzhou International Women's Open in China in September 2011.

In her title defence in China, Scheepers made it through to the quarter-final stage, before losing out in three sets to Urszula Radwanska of Poland.

Chanel Simmonds is the next best South African women at 177th.
