Agassi acknowledged there were times he resented the sport, which his father pushed him into as a small child. But the 40-year-old, eight-time Grand Slam champion said on Saturday it was all part of the journey that brought him to the Newport shrine.
Agassi was No. 1 in the world for 101 straight weeks before dropping to No. 141. Only then did he really appreciate tennis.
Also inducted was Fern "Peachy" Kellmeyer, who fought for women's athletic scholarships while at college in the US and was one of the trailblazers in women's professional tennis.
