Kyrgios books desert date with Zverev

Indian Wells - Nick Kyrgios and Alexander Zverev, two of the ATP tour's most explosive young talents, will clash at the Indian Wells Masters after second-round victories on Sunday.

Australia's 15th-seeded Kyrgios defeated Horacio Zeballos of Argentina 6-3, 6-4 to book the third-round date with 18th-seeded German Zverev, who defeated Argentine Facundo Bagnis 7-6 (12/10, 6-3.

"I'm looking forward to it," Kyrgios, 21, said of facing Zverev. "We have been obviously close mates for a long time. I played juniors with him. I played him once in juniors, and I thought he had a big game then. He's obviously put it together. He's had some great results, beaten some big names."

Kyrgios notched a big win of his own this month, when he toppled world number two Novak Djokovic in Acapulco en route to the semi-finals.

"I got a lot of confidence from that. I knew I had to have a great serving day," said the Aussie, who rained 25 aces on the 12-time Grand Slam champion. "I think he's the most complete player of everyone I have ever played. I have drawn a lot of confidence from that."

However, he was expecting a tough test from Zverev.

"I think serving is the key here," Kyrgios said. "You've got to try and make a lot of first serves and play aggressive. I have been serving pretty well and I kept that up today, which is good.

"I'm trying to play more doubles and I think that's already helping me with my volleys and my transition game. The way I have been playing doubles is carrying over to my singles and that's been helping me a lot."
