German Gojowczyk wins first ATP title

Metz - German Peter Gojowczyk claimed his maiden ATP Tour title on Sunday by brushing aside home hope Benoit Paire in straight sets in the final at Metz.

The world number 95 broke in the 11th game of the opening set, before cruising through the second to wrap up a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

It was the 28-year-old Gojowczyk's first Tour-level final, having beaten the likes of Mischa Zverev and Gilles Simon earlier in the week.
