Cape Town - Richard Gasquet has admitted that his aim next season is to once again find himself ranked among the top 10 players in the world.

Gasquet is coming off an injury plagued season that forced him to miss the Australian Open, Davis Cup quarter-finals and Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Despite this, he did make it to the quarter-finals at Roland Garros, but fell in the fourth round of Wimbledon and the opening round of the US Open, which led to him dropping to 18th on the rankings at the end of the season.

“I left the top 10, I could not play Rio Olympics and the Davis Cup quarter-finals due to injuries. But it's doable,” he said, as quoted by Tennis World website.

Gasquet did secure two titles this year - at the ATP Open Sud de France and ATP European Open - but his other goal going into 2017 is to stay injury free so that he can have more success on the court.

“I won two titles (Two ATP 250: Montpellier and Antwerp), I reached Roland Garros quarter-finals and Wimbledon fourth round,” he added. “My priority is to stay injury-free in order to be more consistent and be ready in the Grand Slams. I want to do better.”
