Anderson upsets Kyrgios in China

Cape Town - Kevin Anderson saved two match points before upsetting Australia’s Nick Kyrgios at the ATP World Tour 250 event in Chengdu, China on Thursday.

The South African No 1 rallied to win 3-6, 7-6 (8/6), 6-2.

According to the official ATP website, Anderson finished with 24 aces to the second-seeded Australian’s 21 and dropped just eight points on his first serve in the one-hour, 34-minute second-round affair.

He was down 4-6 and two match points in the second-set tie-break before reeling off four consecutive points.

Anderson booked his fifth ATP World Tour quarter-final of the season and will carry a 2-1 head-to-head- record into his match with sixth-seed Viktor Troicki of Serbia.

Anderson defeated Australia's Jordan Thompson 6-2, 6-4 in the first round on Monday.
