Anderson beaten in Nice quarters

Cape Town - South Africa's No 1 tennis player, Kevin Anderson, was beaten 7-5, 7-5 in the Nice Open quarter-finals by Portugal's Joao Sousa on Thursday.

The third-seeded Anderson reached the quarter-finals after beating Argentina's Diego Schwartzman 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 earlier in the week.

The 20th-ranked South African has been struggling with various injuries, and underwent ankle surgery in March.

He will now shift his attention to the French Open, which starts in Paris on Sunday.
