Metz - Two-time defending champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is playing his first tournament for almost three months, reached the Metz ATP final on Saturday.
Top-seeded Tsonga, the world number eight, came back from a set down to defeat German eighth seed Florian Mayer, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
In Sunday's final, he will face second-seeded compatriot Gilles Simon who put out fellow Frenchman Nicolas Mahut, 6-3, 7-6 (7/2).
Tsonga had been sidelined from the tour because of a knee injury picked up at Wimbledon.
He had also needed three sets to beat Germany's Tobias Kamke in Friday's quarter-finals.
