Rain washes out Newport semis

Newport - Rain washed out both semi-final matches at the ATP Tour's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships on Saturday.

Nicolas Mahut and Michael Russell played just three points in their semi-final contest before the downpour suspended play on the grass courts in the $520 000 event.

Mahut and Russell will resume their match on Sunday morning on court one, while the second semi between two-time reigning champion John Isner and former world No 1 Lleyton Hewitt will be played at the same time on centre court.

After the completion of the semi-finals, there will be a break before the final begins in the afternoon at the International Tennis Hall of Fame facility.

The winner will take home $78 000 in prize money.
