Mahut downs Kavcic

Winston-Salem - Nicolas Mahut of France beat Slovakia's Blaz Kavcic 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday to set up a second-round match against third-seeded Tommy Robredo at the Winston-Salem Open.

Bradley Klahn beat fellow-American Noah Rubin 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (5) in their first-round match. Klahn will face top-seeded John Isner in the second round.

Robin Haase of the Netherlands had a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Benoit Paire of France, while Germany's Benjamin Becker came back to beat Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.

Germany's Dustin Brown beat Colombia's Alejandro Gonzalez 6-3, 6-2 and will next face No  5-seeded Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
