Chicago - Bob and Mike Bryan, fresh off a US Open doubles triumph, delivered a tie-clinching point Saturday for the United States, ensuring the Americans will play in the Davis Cup World Group next year.
In a playoff against Slovakia, the Bryans routed Lukas Lacko and Norbert Gombos 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 on the indoor hardcourts at Chicago.
That gave the US squad an insurmountable 3-0 lead in the tie after singles triumphs Friday by John Isner and Sam Querrey.
Isner downed Gombos 7-6 (7/5), 6-4, 6-2 while Querrey defeated Martin Klizan 7-6 (8/6), 6-3, 6-3.
The Americans, who have won the trophy a record 32 times, last captured the Davis Cup in 2007.
