Thanks for tuning in!

Captain Hashim Amla is South Africa's hero. His 139 not out ensured they batted for almost the entire day. As I stated yesterday, they will still only be harbouring hopes of a draw for the time being. But Amla's contribution has made that draw very possible indeed. It would give them a series win, of course!

STUMPS ON DAY 3: Sri Lanka 11/0 after 5 overs.

Steyn bowls a maiden over to Silva to end the day's play...

26 Jul 2014

With Sri Lanka on 11/0 after 4 overs, Steyn will bowl the day's final over.

26 Jul 2014

Rather surprisingly, AB de Villiers has now dropped 2 catches in this match...

26 Jul 2014

An absolute snorter from Steyn beats the outside edge of Tharanga's bat. He is lucky to still be out there...

26 Jul 2014

To add insult to injury, Tharanga edges the next ball through slips for four.

26 Jul 2014

De Villiers inexplicably dived in front of first slip Amla, trying to catch it with one hand. It was Amla's catch.

Poor old Philander is not a happy camper...

26 Jul 2014

DROP CATCH! Oh dear, Tharanga is dropped by second slip AB de Villiers.

26 Jul 2014

5 runs off Steyn's first over.

Vernon Philander is the other opener for South Africa.

26 Jul 2014

Silva off the mark with a four, using soft hands to glide Steyn to the third-man boundary...

26 Jul 2014

Tharanga gets a single off the first ball. There was a run-out chance, but Dean Elgar couldn't pick it up cleanly in the covers...

26 Jul 2014

Upul Tharanga and Kaushal Silva are the batsmen in the middle.

Dale Steyn opens the bowling for South Africa.

26 Jul 2014

Sri Lanka will come out to face 5 overs.

26 Jul 2014

South Africa all out for 282 in 134.5 overs (run-rate: 2.09). Amla finishes not out on 139.

Sri Lanka have a 139-run first innings lead.

26 Jul 2014

WICKET! Morkel is out for a duck, caught by Silva at forward short-leg off the bowling of Perera. That's a 5-wicket haul for Perera.

26 Jul 2014

Morne Morkel is the last batsman in for South Africa. 8 overs remain in the day's play.

26 Jul 2014

WICKET! Tahir (15) falls into the same trap as Steyn. He is caught at deep mid-off by Tharanga off the bowling of Herath.

South Africa 279/9 after 134 overs.

26 Jul 2014

Tahir survives an LBW appeal off Herath. Replays show it was plumb! Unluckily for Sri Lanka they have run out of reviews...

26 Jul 2014

With 10 overs remaining in the day, Hashim Amla remains a power of concentration. And he is being well assisted by Imran Tahir, who is staking a claim for batting ahead of Morkel at all times...

26 Jul 2014

Lakmal is now back into the attack for the hosts. Apart from his 21 overs of seam, 109 of the overs have been bowled by the spinners.

26 Jul 2014

OVERS 130: SA 277/8

Run-rate: 2.13 per over.

26 Jul 2014

DRINKS BREAK with SA on 272/8 after 128 overs (run-rate 2.12 per over).

They still trail Sri Lanka's first innings total by 149 runs.

26 Jul 2014

Replays show that the ball would have castled the stumps, but it did in fact strike Tahir outside the line...

26 Jul 2014

Mendis with a massive LBW appeal against Tahir. Given not out by umpire Nigel Llong. Sri Lanka cannot review it as they have run out of reviews. The umpire indicates it struck Tahir outside off stump.

26 Jul 2014

OVERS 125: SA 270/8

Run-rate: 2.16 per over.

26 Jul 2014

Tahir moves into double figures by sweeping Mendis to the boundary...

26 Jul 2014

100 OVERS OF SPIN!

It's remarkable to think that out of the 121 overs bowled so far, only 21 have been seam. The other 100 all spin...

26 Jul 2014

Tahir off the mark with a boundary past point off Herath.

26 Jul 2014

CLOSE SHAVE! Amla edges a vicious turning delivery from Herath but it falls between short-leg and first slip...

26 Jul 2014

That was unnecessary by Steyn. He already had a boundary in the over...

26 Jul 2014

Imran Tahir is the new batsman in for South Africa.

26 Jul 2014

WICKET! Steyn again goes air-borne and is caught at a deep mid-off by Sangakkara off the bowling of Herath. Steyn goes for 30.

South Africa 251/8 after 117.5 overs.

Steyn moves into the 30s by playing Herath down the ground for four

It also brings up South Africa's 250, coming off 705 balls.

26 Jul 2014

Steyn responds by smacking Herath over long-off for a MAXIMUM.

26 Jul 2014

CHANCE! Steyn advances down the pitch against Herath, misses it, but luckily for him the 'keeper Dickwella also misses the stumping opportunity...

26 Jul 2014

OVERS 115: SA 238/7

Run-rate: 2.06 per over.

26 Jul 2014

A slight mix-up between Steyn and Amla almost brings a run-out, but luckily sanity prevails for both men just in time...

26 Jul 2014

NOT OUT. Replays show the ball struck Steyn just outside off-stump. Sri Lanka have been rather unsuccessful with their reviews in this innings...

26 Jul 2014

TV REVIEW

Massive LBW appeal by Perera against Steyn. It's given not out, but Sri Lanka opt for a review.

26 Jul 2014

Perera to continue with the second over after tea...
