Cape Town - England attacker Raheem Sterling was involved in a confrontation with a member of the Colombia coaching staff who deliberately shoulder barged the player during a fiery World Cup Round of 16 clash.

England claimed a dramatic 4-3 win on penalties after the two sides couldn't be separated at 1-1 after 90 minutes of regulation time.

The game was marred by ill-discipline with Colombia receiving eight bookings - it could have been more - to England's two.

As Sterling was jogging towards the tunnel at half-time, a member of the Colombian coaching team deliberately barged into him with his left shoulder.

Former England international Gary Neville, who was speaking during the half-time break, labelled the coach as "a numpty" who escaped with only a ticking off from the referee. This followed a first-half that included a head-butt on Jordan Henderson and another shoulder barge by Juan Cuadrado.

Colombian players were also seen scuffing up the penalty spot before Harry Kane stepped up to take the spot-kick after a Colombian defender was blown up for holding in the area.
