Fekir denies knee injury after Lyon ended Liverpool negotiations

Cape Town - France attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir has publicly stated that his knee is "super good" following Olympique Lyonnais decision to end negotiations with Liverpool.

British and French media have been reporting for weeks that the Lyon star was set to sign for the Premier League outfit for £53m.

However, earlier this month Lyon ended negotiations with Liverpool despite the player having undergone a medical with the club.

"Nabil Fekir is staying at Lyon... pending other propositions," said Lyon in a statement.

"The three-way negotiations with Liverpool and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the Lyon captain have not succeeded and Lyon have decided to end these negotiations tonight (Saturday) at 8pm."

Since then Fekir has remained quiet, up until now.

After featuring for France in their 2-1 World Cup victory over Australia, Fekir was questioned whether he is still having problems with his knee.

"My knee is great. Honestly, I feel like before my injury,” Fekir told a media conference, according to Lequipe.fr website.

The 24-year-old suffered a serious knee injury in 2015 which saw him go for surgery.

Fekir also reiterated that he is completely focussed on helping France progress in the tournament amid transfer talk.

"I am with the France team, I am happy to be here," he said. "I’m not here to talk about my personal situation. We’ll see later."
