Cape Town - Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez reckons midfielder Jonjo Shelvey could give England a different dimension if included in the Three Lions World Cup squad.
Benitez is adamant the midfielder has done enough for Newcastle in recent weeks to give Gareth Southgate a headache before announcing his final squad.
The England manager is expected to announce his squad after the final weekend of the English Premier League season.
Shelvey has had an impressive season for the Magpies and was once again outstanding in the narrow loss to Tottenham on Wednesday night.
However, the 26-year old former Liverpool and Swansea midfielder has not featured for his country since 2015.
Benitez told Sky Sports: “I think so; I think he's a different kind of midfielder. So I am sure that when you talk about the squad, different players can give you different options in different games.
“If we have time on the ball for him, he can make the difference, but he needs players around him moving and doing the right things too, and they were doing that."
