In an attempt to outsmart thousands of eye-catching 2018 Soccer World Cup adverts, Burger King Russia went a step further to get fans interested.
A social media post by the American-owned Russian franchise, which has since been deleted, offered free Whoppers for life and three million rubles to any women that gets impregnated by any World Cup player during the month-long tournament.
"Burger King, within the framework of social responsibility, has appointed a reward for girls who get pregnant from the stars of world football,” the post read, as translated by Deadspin website.
"Each will receive three million rubles, and a lifelong supply of Whoppers.
"For these girls, it will be possible to get the best football genes and will lay down the success of the Russian national team on several generations ahead. Forward! We believe in you!"
Burger King has since apologised for the insensitive advert in a statement released by the company.
"We apologise for the statement we made. It turned out to be too insulting. We thank you for the feedback," a Google translation of their apology said.
