Cape Town - Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal expects his team to advance deep into this year’s World Cup, after another clinical performance against defending champions Spain on Wednesday night.
Vidal, who has made a meaningful contribution to the team effort during this year’s campaign, has suggested that the relative youth which exists within the squad will stand the team in good stead as they prepare to shock the football fraternity this month.
"We are a young team with the will to win," Vidal told Sky Sports.
"We can go far in this competition and we will be the surprise team of the World Cup," he added.
The Juventus midfielder was still recovering from a knee surgery during the build-up to this year’s World Cup, but insists that he is fit and ready to spearhead his team’s campaign.
"On a personal level, I'm feeling fine. I had a good game against Spain and this was very important to me," added Vidal, who is oozing confidence at thus juncture.
Chile face the Netherlands, who also secured their place in the last-16 after a 3-2 victory over Australia on Wednesday, on Monday, June 23 at the Arena Corinthians, Sao Paulo.
