Johannesburg - Former Bafana Bafana defensive midfielder Eric Tinkler has advised the South African national team to take it easy when they face France in what could be the game that sees them qualify for the second round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
He told the Siya crew that the players should be brave in their approach because France will also be looking for a positive result from the game.
“What we should remember is that even France stands a chance to qualify for the next round if they win with a good margin. As a matter of fact France can win 3-0 and if Mexico lose, then they are the ones to qualify with Uruguay from Group A,” said Tinkler.
“This makes the game very tough for both teams. Our players should be determined to play their lungs out and win the game. It is up to them to fight hard, but without putting pressure on themselves.”
The BidVest Wits assistant coach added that the game will be determined in the midfield and it will be up to our midfielders to get a positive result.
“France will want to use their midfielders to supply the front with good balls, that would kill Bafana Bafana and that is where they should be stopped. If stopped successfully then we have the chance to move up and score the important goals,” Tinkler concluded.
