Johannesburg - Following some disappointing performances and a backlash of supporter unhappiness as a result, Teko Modise has seemingly disappeared from the public eye to avoid the attention of a South African soccer public who are looking for some answers as to why he failed to deliver for Bafana Bafana.
Soccer-Laduma’s attempts to track Modise down through his agent proved unsuccessful with Jazzman Mahlakgane saying that the player needed to take a break from the public eye following a pressure-filled few months of football.
Mahlakgane told the Siya crew, “Teko needs to take a break from all of this and has gone away somewhere and is not available to talk to anyone. It seems like he has been playing football forever and the guy needs a break to escape all the attention of the media and the fans. He is somewhere in South Africa but I can’t say where until at least next week.”
Despite failing to qualify for the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup, Bafana Bafana players became heroes after defeating former world champions France in their final game of Group A. Modise started the final game on the bench, marking an overall disappointing display in the tournament.
