Stalemate at half-time in CT

Cape Town - England and Algeria were drawing 0-0 at half-time in their World Cup Group C match.

Neither team had clear scoring chances, but England goalkeeper David James had difficulty punching clear a cross aimed at Karim Matmour.

England captain Steven Gerrard's lofted ball from outside the area caused problems for Algeria goalkeeper M'bohi Rais Ouhed. Emile Heskey headed over from a corner.

James replaced Robert Green after the goalkeeper's blunder allowed the United States to secure a 1-1 draw in the teams' opener last week.
