Johannesburg - Carlos Alberto Parreira has reiterated his plan to select the bulk of his World Cup squad from a pool of players based in South Africa and revealed Steven Pienaar is the only foreign-based star to be sure of a call-up.The local-based squad impressed in a training match victory over Swaziland on the weekend and then swept aside Zimbabwe 3-0 in an international friendly on Wednesday. And following these performances Parreira seems set to shun big-name players who ply their trade abroad unless they can ensure game time at their respective clubs."We have only one overseas-based player who is playing every week and that is Steven Pienaar and who is on the top of his game. The other are not regular starters for their clubs."Maybe I will select six of them. Pienaar is in and if Benni McCarthy should get more game time he will be selected.""Others we might need are Tsepo Masilela who plays in Israel, MacBeth Sibaya and Kagiso Dikgacoi if they are fit and willing to play in the World Cup .The Bafana Bafana boss admitted he was concerned by Bernard Parker's lack of regular action at Steve McClaren's FC Twente."But I am worried about Bernard Parker who is not playing for his club in Holland," he added.
