Parreira beams after SA win

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira was finally given reason to smile on the tour of Germany after watching his side ease past Jamaica.

The Reggae Boyz agreed to a last-minute friendly against the Soccer World Cup hosts on Wednesday and found themselves on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline.

Veteran pair Surprise Moriri and Siyabonga Nomvete did the business for South Africa and the Brazilian boss was more than pleased with what he witnessed at the Kickers Offenbach Stadium.

"It was particularly positive that we used the few chances that we had," he said.

"That can be a very important thing during the World Cup."

Parreira was quick to point out that Jamaica have been quite hard to break down in recent months.

"The only team that scored twice against Jamaica was Argentina. That shows how good my side was," added the coach.

"Jamaica was a very strong team, even though they only arrived in Germany on the same day as the game. They ran for 90 minutes and made our life difficult.

"They were the strongest team we have played during our preparations, even stronger than Paraguay or Cruzeiro, whom we played during our training camp in Brazil," he concluded.
