Johannesburg - Katlego Mphela says he has yet to receive clarification over his future but insists he doesn't want to go overseas unless he is guaranteed first-team football.

The 25-year-old striker has been linked with a lucrative transfer to Birmingham City for some time now after scouts from the club watched him in action during South Africa's pre-World Cup training camp in Germany.

But the Bafana Bafana ace has told Football365.co.za he still needs to hold talks with his current employers Mamelodi Sundowns before the transfer can go ahead.

The Chloorkop-based outfit are engaged in a wrangle with Mphela's team-mate Siboniso Gaxa whose move to Belgian Pro League club Lierse SK is being held up over a dispute over the transfer fee.

Mphela said: "I'm not sure (about the Birmingham deal) at the moment. I will be meeting Sundowns soon to discuss my future, but I don't think they have a problem with me leaving."

However, Mphela is adamant he will only consider a move if he knows he will get some time on the pitch.

"If I do go there (to England) I will only be happy when I'm playing," he explained.

"It won't make sense to go there and sit on the bench, but for now I first have to discuss my future with Sundowns and you know I will let you know once something happens."
