Johannesburg - Last season’s PSL top scorer Katlego Mphela managed to score a goal in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over the French however missed some good goal scoring opportunities which could have seen Bafana Bafana advance to the next phase.

Mphela told the Siya crew that although he missed two chances during the game they were supposed to win the game.

"We did all we were supposed to do. We scored early and we thought we would go all out to win. We won the game and it was good beating France in a World Cup game. Just like any other South Africans we wanted to qualify for the second round but we didn't and only God knows how and why," Mphela said.

The Mamelodi Sundowns striker added that it was sad that they created a lot of opportunities but were unable to convert them.
