Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Surprise Moriri has expressed his delight after making his comeback from injury at the weekend.
The Bafana Bafana man returned from a six-month lay-off due to a knee injury to come on as a second-half substitute for Matty Pattison in the Brazilians' 3-0 win over AmaZulu on Saturday.
He told Football365.co.za: "It meant a lot to me to make my comeback after being out for some time. To be back in the team and being part of the team means a lot to me."
The 29-year-old is confident that he can now get back to his best and help the Chloorkop outfit achieve success this season.
"I was on for a couple of minutes and got a couple touches of the ball, there is nothing more that I could have asked for, just to touch the ball, just to let everyone know that I'm back and I'm looking forward to playing more minutes," he added.
"It is up to me now, I just have to put more effort in and work hard, I know that if I can work hard as we are going into recess now, I just have to keep on going and keep on working hard and I don't have to take a break, maybe that will help me."
Sundowns moved up to second in the PSL standings with three points at the weekend and although they trail leaders SuperSport by nine points, Moriri believes the title race is far from over.
He continued: "There is still a long way to go in the league, but if we keep on doing well like this and take it one game at a time, I think we will see when we play our last game where we'll be.
"We just have to keep putting the same effort in, in each and every game.
"SuperSport are doing well, but we just have to keep collecting points and hope that they will drop some points along the way because there is no room for losing points and we just have to keep collecting points and see how we end up."
The Matibidi-born midfielder is determined to win his place back in Carlos Alberto Parreira's World Cup squad.
"As I said, I have to work harder than anybody because I've just come back from this injury. so I have to put more effort in if I want to see myself playing in 2010," he concluded.
