Majola beats SA drum

Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa on Monday congratulated FIFA, the South African Football Association (SAFA) and the South African nation on staging the "best ever" FIFA World Cup.

SWC Closing Ceremony

Gerald Majola, CSA CEO, said: "In CSA's view, this was the best FIFA World Cup ever held. Congratulations of the highest order go to FIFA, SAFA and the South African nation for achieving this.

"This will be remembered as the 'Vuvuzela World Cup', where the sound of the ancient horn of the cradle of mankind reached the hearts and minds of the whole world.

"The FIFA World Cup sounded the trumpet of a joyous South African nation that has finally overcome its painful past and heralded a new era of unity and success.

"The world now knows about the true South Africa and we are truly proud to have been part of this and to have witnessed it at first hand.

"The players, too, warrant the best accolades for making this tournament unforgettable.

"We must all hold onto this moment and take it forward into the future to build a wonderful tomorrow for our nation and our continent.

"CSA congratulates Spain on winning the final and wishes Brazil all the best for hosting the next one in 2014."
