Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs head coach Vladimir Vermezovic believes the Loftus pitch is good enough to host rugby, but not football.
Vermezovic was speaking to Football365.co.za after watching his side win 2-1 against Free State Stars on Saturday afternoon at the Pretoria ground.
"They must do something about it before the Soccer World Cup," Vermezovic said.
"I have to say the pitch wasn't for the football, maybe for the rugby! Before the World Cup they have to look at it, otherwise it is going to be a big problem.
"It was difficult for the players to make the passes and I think lots of mistakes we saw from the players on Saturday was because of the pitch. I think 40% of mistakes was because of the field."
Nevertheless, the Serbian was impressed with his boys and said he was happy to finish third in his first season with the Phefeni Glamour Boys.
"Okay, I said to my players before the game that it is hard to play a game without the pressure, because we didn't have to win, but we had to show that we are professionals by winning the game. There is no friendly game, we must be serious about every game," he continued.
"My players, especially in the second half proved that they are really professionals. We started the season very slow and the league was very tough, but I think we have to be satisfied that we finished in third position.
"I know our supporters always want trophies but we can promise for the next season. This season it was tough, very tough! We have to be satisfied."
Vermezovic also revealed that he is proud of Itumeleng Khune, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Reneilwe Letsholonyane. The trio form part of Carlos Alberto Parreira's 29-man Bafana Bafana squad heading to Brazil for a training camp.
"They deserve to be in Bafana Bafana. It is a great thing for a player to be part of a World Cup and my wish for them is that they make it to the World Cup squad as well. It will be nice to see them there," Vermezovic added.
