Hunt: Bafana must calm down

Johannesburg - SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt believes the game against Uruguay is the most important for the national team going forward in the FIFA World Cup.

He told the Siya crew that winning the first game would have been a great start to the tournament, but getting a draw was not all that bad.

Hunt added that since Bafana Bafana have just one point, they need to win their second game to keep their chances of qualifying for the second round alive.

“In all the three games they will play in the group stages this one now becomes a must-win match. The first game was a must-win that day, but since it is in the past they have to win this one to be sure of qualification. In many cases four points takes you through to the next group and that is what the team needs right now, a win and four points,” he said.

The three-time league winning coach added that the team should not put themselves under pressure because of the importance of winning this game.

“When you put too much pressure on yourself, you commit more mistakes and then you end up not getting the desired results. They have to be calm and just do what they are supposed to do, play the ball and score goals. They can beat Uruguay,” Hunt said.
