Johannesburg - FIFA will study official reports from the Uruguay-Ghana Soccer World Cup quarter-final before deciding how long to suspend Luis Suarez for his deliberate handball that denied the Africans victory.

FIFA's disciplinary committee can sanction Suarez for more than the mandatory one-match suspension the Uruguay forward must serve after receiving a red card on Friday.

FIFA spokesperson Pekka Odriozola said on Saturday the disciplinary panel has no immediate timetable to look at the incident.

Suarez swatted away Dominic Adiyiah's goalbound header at the end of extra-time with the score 1-1.

Ghana's Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty, and Uruguay then won the ensuing shootout.

Suarez will miss Uruguay's semifinal against the Netherlands on Tuesday.
