Johannesburg - FIFA has found no evidence of suspicious bets on a World Cup qualifier refereed by an official later suspended by UEFA for alleged involvement in match-fixing.
FIFA said on Thursday its monitoring system detected no manipulation of the betting market for the Lithuania-Serbia match played Oct. 14.
Referee Anton Genov awarded two penalties which gave Lithuania its goals in a 2-1 victory. Serbia had already won the group to reach the finals in South Africa.
UEFA suspended the Bulgarian referee after it traced "obvious irregular betting patterns" for a Nov. 14 friendly between Macedonia and Canada.
Genov awarded four penalties, two to each team, in Macedonia's 3-0 win.
The 43-year-old official has been on FIFA's international referees list since 1999.
