Brazil leave out Ronaldinho

Brasilia - Ronaldinho's hopes of a Brazil recall received a sizeable blow on Tuesday when he was left out of Dunga's squad for the team's final friendly prior to the World Cup against Ireland on March 2.

The friendly match in London is the squad's last outing before they travel to South Africa for the tournament and Ronaldinho's omission suggests Dunga has been unmoved by the winger's recent return to form with AC Milan.

Robinho, who joined former club Santos on a six-month loan deal from Manchester City last month, has been included in the squad.

Five-time champions Brazil were drawn alongside Portugal, Ivory Coast and North Korea in World Cup Group G.

They begin their campaign against North Korea in Johannesburg on June 15.

Squad

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan, ITA), Doni (Roma, ITA)

Defenders: Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Barcelona, ESP), Juan (Roma), Lucio (Inter Milan), Luisao (Benfica, POR), Thiago Silva (AC Milan, ITA), Gilberto (Cruzeiro), Michel Bastos (Lyon, FRA)

Midfielders: Gilberto Silva (Panathinaikos, GRE), Josue (Wolfsburg, GER), Felipe Melo (Juventus, ITA), Lucas (Liverpool, ENG), Kaka (Real Madrid, ESP), Ramires (Benfica), Elano (Galatasaray, TUR), Julio Baptista (Roma), Kleberson (Flamengo)

Forwards: Robinho (Santos), Adriano (Flamengo), Nilmar (Villarreal, ESP), Luis Fabiano (Sevilla, ESP)

dunga is an a*****e i will never support brazil like many other passionate footballeers out there ronaldinho you are the best

dunga,i know you are one of the best but you must know never the ears are above the head. you are doing a very big mistake;same like zico in 1998 in France.for sure you will lose on the first round if you do not bring ronaldinho in africa.anyway good like
eddie3/14/2010 4:40 PM
ronaldinho's present on the pitch will b enough to put the opposition on high stress !!! hope this just a last minute surprise

Dunga!!! wake up and smell the cofee, Ronaldihno of all the players you must be kiding, common coach give this boy a chance.

I think Dunga is making a mistake for leaving out Ronaldinho. most players have not proven themselves. the likes of Robinho, Ramires,Baptista. taking Ronaldinho to the squad would give him options. what If the reliable Kaka gets an injury. Brazil might not make it to the semi finals. Luis Fabiano is the best. Pato should also be included. Dunga is comfused. The confed cup winning was not that convincing.

I hate to admit it but not having Ronaldinho to South Africa is unbearable. Coach Dunga ... take a moment & think carefully please!! The least you can do is bench him if he doesn't perform well ... C'mon for the sake of Brasil and for fans like us!!
keith2/12/2010 3:28 AM
i was hoping that r9 the real ronaldo, ( not the panzy cristiano), would come back, cos no one can play like them......
gunner fan2/12/2010 3:22 AM
ronaldihno is such a talented player. robinho is a spoiled, unproven, supposed talent. baptista has shown very little with all the teams he's played for. lucas, no need to comment. adriano, possibly a consideration, however not that dependable as he once was, look where he is playing now. their defense is the only thing that looks positive on paper
Louis 2/11/2010 6:04 PM
as a brazilian living in brazil half u people dont even know what u talking about,,,let me guess u all pora's that cant support ur own team, bec u guys suck. so u jump on the brazlian band waggan,,and u wanna judge dunga's pick his the coach he's right 2 pick, if he fails he gets the blame, so its only right he picks his squad...the rest of u loosers why dont u support angola they also speak portugese?? funny how in SA poras pull for brazil but here in brazil, braziliana hate portugese poras...
Devaldo2/11/2010 2:16 PM
it seems Dunga can not spot talented players cos he included the beast and lucas 2 players i doubt will walk into any national teams 1st 11...........I for 1 would love to see him include ronaldo and little ronaldo(ronaldinho).Dunga def has personal issues with those 2 cos on current form they are playing great football. Brazil will regret if they don't take atleast 1 of the 2 to SA

dunga must have lost his entire mind to leave out the best skilled player in football, i think he dunga himself is a loser as he left out a winner in this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Felo2/11/2010 12:29 PM
there has to be a way we can make dunga to include the now inform Ronaldinho, does'nt he read our observations? This guy needs to be spoken to if he wants to come to Mzanzi to become somebody. We need Dinho! We Need Dinho! Leaders of football in brazil, Help this Dunga not to make a mistake of his life.
gape2/10/2010 6:41 PM
dunga is on a suicidal mission!hw on earth cn he liv Dinoh, the 1 and only magician in soccer out of the squard?dunga is sick and who is this nilmar guy?no more magic's on the field!?eish....................
Amos2/10/2010 3:29 PM
Look guys this is a recipe for disaster. Brazil will not win this world cup if grown ups are going to behave like kids.
AL2/10/2010 2:50 PM
LUCAS????????????????? WTF??? How is this possible? It must be personal. Gilberto Silva is also getting on a bit now.
Natty Dreads2/10/2010 10:10 AM
ja its clear this is personal , dunga hates Ronaldinho how can he include lucas, baptista lol nt to mention that his replacement is ramires i mean ramires is nothing compared to Ronaldinho ,we as FANS want him to be part of the squard that will come to south africa in June .am sure the Brazilian fans wants him back 2.
Thami, Kempton Park2/10/2010 10:01 AM
Nash, you are absolutely right; the two names [Lucas and Baptista] jumped out at me as being totally inappropriate in that squad. I would go as far as to suggest that Dunga can afford to leave both of them out and replace them [both] with Ronaldihno alone. I hope that our beloved Gunners can tonight expose Lucas for what he is, a flop of a player!! May be then Dunga will change his mind. Hang in there Dinho, hang in there!!!
Danie2/10/2010 9:13 AM
@Jameel....R9...you have just reminded me of a legendary striker...i still regard him as the best striker ever...it's just sad that his career has been plagued with injuries...i still follow his football career (he plays for Corinthians)...I think it's a decent selection and they have a wealth of experience...Louis Fabiano is in good form as well
Felo2/10/2010 8:34 AM
Dunga must sort out his differences with our favourite player, we don't need a world cup of military football, we are buying tickets to be entertained with classy football by the likes of Ronaldinho, Messi, Ronalndo and Kaka. this is terrible.
Nash the Gunner2/10/2010 8:28 AM
Dunga must not like Ronaldihno if he includes Lucas and leaves him out, Even Baptista is in the team... wonder what Dihno sinned coz he has been playing good football recently.
jameel2/9/2010 8:06 PM
this team will never be the same with R9 & Rivaldo. these guys are irreplaceable. theyll be luck to make semis
