Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana defender Bongani Khumalo has revealed his horror following the heavy defeat to Uruguay on Wednesday night.
The Soccer World Cup hosts chances of reaching the second round took a major blow as the South Americans inflicted a 3-0 defeat on them.
Khumalo admitted that the side tried to rescue in the game in the second 45 minutes, but did not do enough to escape defeat.
The SuperSport United star said: "It is really bad. The final result looks horrible.
"We came out in the second half with the aim to fight back and come back into the game and create more chances."
Uruguay's second goal came courtesy of a somewhat controversial penalty, one which Khumalo believes should not have been awarded in the first place.
"First of all I thought the striker was offside. But I don't think that has been confirmed," he continued.
"Look, at the end of the day decision go against you in football. Some go for you and some against. This one came at the worst possible time.
Bafana Bafana have one more game to go in Group A - against former world champions France in Bloemfontein.
Khumalo is keeping his head up and is urging the rest of the team to do the same, as a victory could be enough to see the host nation reach the round of 16.
He added: "We need to look forward. As long as their is a chance (of qualifying) we have to believe.
"If this was our last game I would have said no chance, but the fact that there is one more game, we will look to play properly and win the game.
"Obviously the result tomorrow (between France and Mexico) will tell a lot and we have one more game and we will give it all we have."
