The Twitter SWC final

Cape Town - Social media and sport go hand in hand and it seems that Twitter is the place to be when it comes to all things soccer.

Liverpool broke the news that Luis Suarez was leaving with a link on Twitter.

Barcelona welcomed Suarez to the club by "following" the player on Twitter.

Alexis Sanchez agent dropped the hint of his player's next club by following feature teammates on Twitter.

When Germany crushed Brazil 7-1 in the semi-finals, that match overtook the Super Bowl as the most tweeted about sporting event and now it looks like the final of the 2014 Soccer World Cup will soon overtake that match when all the numbers have been crunched by the powers that be.
