Record viewers for SWC final

Frankfurt - A record 34.65 million Germans watched the nail-biting Soccer World Cup final between Germany and Argentina on Sunday evening, viewing figures showed on Monday.

The match, broadcast from 21:00 on ARD public television, beat the previous all-time record of 32.57 million set last week by the semi-final between Germany and Brazil, the German news agency DPA reported.

The number, which does not include the many millions of people who watched the match in bars and open-air public viewings, represents a market share of 86.3 percent, the data showed.
