Cape Town - As if watching a brilliant effort rattle the crossbar instead of landing in the back of the net isn't painful enough, Chile star Mauricio Pinilla has relived the anguish of the moment by having the incident tattooed on his back.
Pinilla struck a sweet effort during the closing seconds of extra time in Chile’s last 16 tie with Brazil and was just inches away from seeing his side through to the quarter-finals.
Chile were unable to make the most of their opportunities and were eventually knocked out of the World Cup by Brazil on penalties.
According to Twitter, Pinilla has had a picture of the goal mouth with the ball striking the crossbar tattooed on the right-hand side of his lower back. Captioned alongside the picture is the phrase: "One centimetre from glory".
