Cape Town - Portugal defender Pepe has been handed a one-match ban for head-butting Germany's Thomas Muller.

The Real Madrid player was shown a straight red card for the incident which occurred in the first half of Portugal’s 4-0 defeat to the Germans.

He will miss his side’s clash with the USA as a result, but will be free to face Ghana in Portugal’s final group game.

The 31-year-old has also been fined £9,860 by FIFA.
