Pretoria – As soccer teams and fans warm up for Friday's World Cup opening, South Africa's wildlife will venture out from their camouflaged bushveld in support of Bafana Bafana.

At a lunchtime march on Wednesday in support of the host team, SA National Parks CEO David Mabunda, wearing an antelope soccer hat and blowing a kudu-horn vuvuzela, said wild animals were out in the open to welcome tourists and support their team.

"Even though vuvuzelas aren't allowed, the roar of the lion comes free and the giggle of hyena will tickle you. They will be rooting for the success of Bafana Bafana," Mabunda told staff clad in the national team's shirts at the head office in Pretoria.

"Elephants will be trumpeting from all over the stadium..."

Mabunda said he welcomed tourists who thought South Africa was under a rock and people lived in the bush where elephants and lions run free and on their doorsteps.

"There will be at least three billion people watching these games on TV, I can bet many of these people in the next three to four years will want to come to our country."
