We can get better - Khune

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana will get better in the FIFA SWC finals that kicked off at Soccer City on Friday, goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune said.

Khune was one of the heroes in the match, where Bafana held the 17th ranked Mexico one-all in a nail-biting Group A match.

Khune, the Kaizer Chiefs star, turned in a world class display - especially in the first half - where he rescued Bafana with a number of saves and laid the platform for the home side to come out with a credible and deserved point.

“Credit must go to everyone," said Khune, who turns 23 on June 20. "There was a lot of pressure.

"We performed well as a team but need to improve on a few issues."

He said the defence could be better.

"We gave away a bad goal for the equaliser.”

But Khune was disappointed at the lack of emotion displayed by the fans in the 85 000 strong crowd.

“We never heard the vuvuzelas making a big noise we expected and we want more vocal support from the fans for Bafana," he said.

"I hope when we play at Loftus against Uruguay on Wednesday that we have more support from the fans.”

Bafana play the 16th ranked Uruguay in their second Group A match at Loftus on Wednesday evening.
