Nelspruit – Vuvuzelas fell quiet in Nelspruit on Wednesday night after Uruguay defeated the 10-man home side 3-0 in their second 2010 Group A clash at Loftus Stadium.
Bafana fans started pouring out of the town's fan park soon after the penalty.
"Ay man," said one young man with a vuvuzela hanging at his side.
"I am disapointed. I don't want to talk. It's not a beautiful game. It's a rubbish game."
Shortly before the end of the match, the entire grand that overlooks the park's large screen television and which was earlier a hive of waving flags and blaring vuvuzelas, was mostly empty.
When goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was sent off in the 77th minute by Swiss referee Massimo Busacca after the keeper tripped Luis Suarez inside his penalty area, the crowd in Nelspruit booed and shook their vuvuzelas. Thereafter there was silence.
Chileans for Bafana
Earlier, Chilean soccer supporters at the fan park pledged their support to Bafana Bafana after celebrating their team's 1-0 World Cup victory over Honduras.
"I've never experienced any atmosphere like this," said Ignatio Urzua, a native of Chilean capital Santiago.
"Just look at this place, it's amazing."
Urzua was part of a group of Chileans who arrived in South Africa on Monday. He said they had only good things to say about the country.
"We arrived two days ago but already we have seen the Big Five in the Kruger National Park," a beer-sipping Urzua boasted.
"I love this country and tonight I am fully behind Bafana Bafana."
