Cape Town - Thieves broke into the Uruguay team hotel and stole $12 000 from two members of the squad while they were playing their match against France at the World Cup, Uruguay media reported on Saturday.

The robbers broke into the rooms of Ernesto Rodriguez and Daniel Marotta at a hotel in Cape Town during the Friday night game.

Rodriguez was robbed of $4 000 and Marotta was missing $8 000.

After reviewing surveillance camera recordings, South African police believe a member of the Uruguay delegation may have been involved.
