Bloemfontein - Security will be tight for the World Cup match between Germany and England in Bloemfontein on Sunday, national police said on Saturday.

Brigadier Sally de Beer said that the teams were considered to be "high priority" by security forces and security would be heightened in and around the Free State stadium.

"The security forces will deploy additional members, including our highly skilled and trained elite units, as well as extra equipment and resources.
"We have not picked up any specific threat against this match or either team, but as was the case in other matches played by high-priority teams, we will make sure that we are prepared for any eventuality," de Beer said.

A group of police officers from England and Germany would be working side by side with South African Police Force members, both in uniform and plain clothes outside the stadium and among the crowd inside the stadium, she said.
