Port Elizabeth - Dutch fans screamed in delight while Brazilian supporters sat slumped in shock at the St George's Park fan fest in Port Elizabeth on Friday afternoon.
"I want to cry, I had not expected they (Netherlands) would win," Brazilian supporter Mishaad Fredericks, who lives in PE, told Sapa.
This was after the Netherlands beat favourites, Brazil, two goals to one in the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Another city resident, Gerhard Bosch, was jubilant.
"I am a German supporter, but today I'm backing Holland," he said waving a large Dutch flag.
He predicted Holland and Germany would be the final two teams, playing for the coveted cup.
Close to 14 000 fans watched the game on what officials say is South Africa's largest screen at the fan fests, 45m².
