Special Cup trains for Loftus

Johannesburg - Metrorail will provide eight dedicated trains for fans wanting to get to Wednesday's World Cup match between Bafana Bafana and Uruguay at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.

"With large supporter numbers anticipated, Metrorail will be running approximately eight trains with the capacity to transport 18 000 fans to and from the stadium," Nana Zenani said.

Four trains would transport fans from Johannesburg Park Station to Pretoria Station while the other four would ferry passengers from Pretoria to Johannesburg Park stations, she said.

Football fans from Sandton, Rivonia, Johannesburg CBD, the East Rand and West Rand were advised to make their way to Johannesburg Park station where they could show their match ticket and travel for free to Pretoria Station, Zenani said.

From there they would be able to board a train shuttle service to Rissik Station, located five minutes away from Loftus stadium.

"Passengers from Pretoria and surrounding areas can make their way to Pretoria Station where they will take a train shuttle service to Rissik Station," she said.

Trains would depart from Johannesburg Park Station every 30 minutes from 16:30.
