Johannesburg - A man was caught inside the English team's changing room at Cape Town stadium after their match against Algeria on Friday evening, Western Cape police said on Saturday.

Video: England fans vent their anger

The man, who was wearing a red t-shirt, was removed from the room after he entered without permission, Colonel Billy Jones said.

Police were studying CCTV footage and will question all security staff to establish how the man entered the highly restricted area.

After being caught by security the man was released without questioning.

Nothing was reported stolen after the incident.

England complained to FIFA after the fan got into the team dressing room and had angry words with David Beckham.
