Johannesburg – Local organising committee CEO Danny Jordaan on Thursday warned that noise levels at stadiums could affect the safety of spectators.

"You must look at the circumstances in the stadiums," Jordaan told the media at Ellis Park stadium.

"If there is an evacuation order will everyone hear that order?"

Jordaan also said that too much noise could affect security's ability to communicate with each other.

He also expressed concern that noise might interfere with such things as the singing of the various countries' national anthems.

Thursday's game at Soccer City between Bafana Bafana and Colombia would be used as a test to evaluate the effect of the noise, he said.
