More tickets made available

Johannesburg – About 1 000 tickets are available for the World Cup clash between arch rivals Germany and England, FIFA said on Thursday.

FIFA spokesperson Nicolas Maingot said 6 000 tickets would also be available for the match between the United States and Ghana.

Fans had to hurry to get tickets as the 1 000 tickets put on sale for the Argentina/Mexico game sold within 15 minutes, he said.

Local Organising Committee spokesperson Rich Mkhondo congratulated Ghana for "keeping the African flag and representation high".

Ghana is the only African country to qualify for the next round of the tournament.

"Ghana is making us very proud. We wish them the best of luck in their next game against the USA," Mkhondo said.

Maingot said close attention would be paid to the game between England and Germany in Bloemfontein on Sunday at 16:00. The fan fest in Berlin, Germany already had 305 000 spectators.

Mkhondo said it was an exciting game early in the tournament. It was games such as these which made the tournament more exciting.

Another game which would be closely watched by fans all over the world was that between Portugal and Brazil in Durban on Friday at 16:00.
