Jordaan slams news report

Johannesburg - FIFA Local Organising Committee CEO Danny Jordaan on Saturday dismissed claims that his brother was benefiting from the soccer World Cup.

"I cannot comment on that. All I know is that we are focused on dealing with the World Cup," he said during a media conference held at Soccer City.

He dismissed as "nonsense" the fact that local media insisted on referring back to the SAFA elections to insinuate that there was tension between himself and SAFA chairperson, Irvin Khoza.

He also refuted the Mail and Guardian reports that he had submitted an affidavit to his lawyers in an effort to take legal steps against the newspaper.

"Do you know the lawyers?" he asked.

"I'd be happy if you gave me their names."

The Mail and Guardian news weekly reported that Jordaan's brother was cashing in on the World Cup through a hospitality contract.
FIFA secretary general, Jerome Valcke, hailed South Africa as the best host of the soccer tournament.

"South Africa will always be a plan B for any World Cup," Valcke said.

He said that South Africa was one of the best attended World Cup tournaments in 20 years
