Cape Town – The Independent Democrats said on Monday Cape Town achieved a "perfect score" for the manner in which the city hosted its eight World Cup matches.
"The city has hosted an efficient and incident-free event and we must commend and thank all those who worked long and hard organising the Cape Town matches and events and then running them so smoothly," ID councillor and caucus spokesperson Brett Herron said.
Ordinary Capetonians deserved praise for being excellent hosts, he said.
"Of course, much of Cape Town's success was due to the wonderful manner in which our residents welcomed the world and joined in the festivities."
Herron thanked municipal staff for keeping the city clean, police for keeping fans safe and traffic officers for coping with "enormous pressure" during the four-week soccer tournament.
