Johannesburg – FIFA and South Africa's World Cup organisers have gone on the defensive about security issues at five World Cup stadiums caused by a stewards' strike over low pay.The spokespersons for FIFA and the organising committee declined to address the problems at their daily news briefing on Wednesday, referring all questions to police.Police have taken responsibility for both stadiums in Johannesburg, and the venues in Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth, since stewards began protests on Sunday evening.FIFA and local organisers declined to answer questions about the cost of deploying thousands of additional police officers on match days, or if security contractor Stallion Security would be fired.
